CRTKL’s Digital Evolution Lab is an internal, virtual hackathon designed to inspire a culture of digital innovation by envisioning new tools and services.
2020’s theme was – Building architectural tools and services of the future using Computational Design.
In this hackathon-based event, our participants competed in small teams to showcase how CRTKL can leverage Computational Design to develop a conceptualized tool or service that would be inspiring and disruptive to our business, industry, and beyond.

The Digital Evolution Lab began to take form in discussions within our Design Technology Group centered on how we can identify and properly enrich the technically inclined individuals throughout our firm.
Digital Evolution Lab: The Pre-Lab Part 2
The Digital Evolution Pre-Lab kicked-off on the 22nd of June with Sol Amour of Autodesk leading an inspiring discussion on bridging the present and the future, and how hackathons have brought about real, tangible change to the AEC industry.
Digital Evolution Lab: The Lab
Lab participants completed their last week of the Pre-Lab on July 17th before finally embarking on the official Lab itself. The last week of the Pre-Lab included a very informative and engaging workshop called Web Apps with Rhino Compute led by Steve Baer of McNeel.
