The Cat’s Meow
Earlier this month, a group of cat-loving Los Angeles RTKLers volunteered their time to be part of Architects for Animals, a cause benefiting animals in need. We were tasked to design and build a PURRRFECT home for our friendly and fabulous felines. The Cat House was displayed at the “Giving Shelter” event at the Herman Miller Showroom and will be donated and installed in a local shelter to be used by lucky kitties.
Several RTKLers submitted designs, and the team voted to select Jill Guerrero’s MEOW design. Jill’s design is a playful graphic and architectural solution, inspired by classic modernist typographic sculptures. It uses large scale letterforms spelling out MEOW to build nooks and crannies for cats to explore.
More than a dozen architects and designers put their drafting skills to use creating unique cat shelters for the Sept. 10 event. It was a fun opportunity to show off diverse talents, expose our company’s creativity and be part of the local design community.

“The Cat’s Meow: Elegant and regal—the main characteristics of what it is to be a feline. The shelter was constructed out of plywood, laser cut wood panels and clad in feline friendly carpet tile for hours of scratching excitement. Food and water bowls outside the cube complete the cat’s living experience.”
I am organizing an installation at the Worcester Art Museum in June 2016 entitled The Cats-in-Residence Program.
It’s the fourth iteration of an inter-species purr-formance piece where rescue cats will be available for adoption!
I love this cats’ MEOW and I would love to include it in the Worcester installation, if it is available for loan?
I am not sure where at your office is the right place to direct my query. If you would direct me to the right person I would
be grateful.
Many thanks,
